Falkland riders see us off

The day was forecast to be brutally hot but it can be really hard to get a group of 7 adults and 5 kids all ready to go at the same time so we hit the road a lot later than we would have liked and the day’s heat was already building. Today’s section of Highway 97 was even worse than what we had done before with a very rough edge on a 10-30cm wide shoulder. Fortunately we were able to take a back road for about half the ride into town. Unfortunately Robin, our wonderful support driver, missed the turn and in the hot sun a long time waiting to video us on the road.
Not safe for a bicycle

before Kamloops

In the evening we set up our booth at the Music in the Park event. We met some interesting people there including a couple who were cycling across Canada with a 15 month old baby; local citizens concerned about the city trying to put convention facilities on city park space; a trucker couple who were concerned about the ridiculous amounts of unnecessary shipping; and others.
